Doc Watson, 79 and blind since childhood, tunes up his guitar in the main room of a log cabin at MerleFest before stepping out onto the front porch to play for a Friday night crowd. The annual music festival in Wilkesboro honors Watson's son, Eddy Merle Watson, who died in 1985.
