Rescue Workers signal the shore line after reaching two people stranded on a rock in the middle of the South Fork of the Catawba River late Monday night February 24, 2003, in Mc Candenville, N.C. A young women and man were both air lifted by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Helicopter lifted from a large rock in the center of the river after they became stranded. Rescuers had to battle rough current upstream to reach the couple.
