04/19/03: It was easier for track meet officials to mark the distance in the rain-saturated shot put event area but harder on the athletes who had to clean the mud off their shot before putting again. The 2003 Chic-Fil-A Invitational got off despite early rains, a persistent mist and cool weather as more than 500 high school athletes from across North and South Carolina competed fro bragging rights over two states. Foul weather not withstanding the high schoolers demonstrated strength, speed, grace and determination.
