04/19/03: Vonteena Knotts (CQ, Vonteena Knotts), from Butler High, flings herself towards the rain-hardened sand in long jump pit. Hands and feet are all ablur at the start of the first heat of the men's 1600 meters final. The 2003 Chic-Fil-A Invitational got off despite early rains, a persistent mist and cool weather as more than 500 high school athletes from across North and South Carolina competed fro bragging rights over two states. Foul weather not withstanding the high schoolers demonstrated strength, speed, grace and determination.
