09/02/03 -- Marine corporal Steven Johnson, with fiance Jamie Jenkins (right), peers from his bedroom window three days after returning home from a Texas hospital where, for 2 months, he was treated for injuries suffered while deployed in Africa. Johnson, of Kannapolis, was badly burned and suffered multiple fractures on June 22 when the U.S. Air Force mistakenly dropped bombs on his position during a training exercise.
